Description

Two apps in two days? Am I trying to kill myself again? Eh, well, I'll live. Maybe. Anyway, this app is for a nice group that crosses Pokemon with Madoka Magica called PuellaPokeMagica. Since there's tons of magi already in the group, I decided to go against the trend and made a bystander instead. He can't do magic or anything like that, and at present, he isn't even aware of the existence of the magi and their struggles; however, that's not to say he can't be useful as a medic whenever anyone is injured, and given the nature of the group, it's inevitable that someone will get wounded. Now it's time for me to fly off before I misspell something again. No more Ingidos here, nope.

Personality:

Devyn is a calm individual who often keeps a cool head during stressful times, a crucial trait when under the pressure of saving lives. He is exceptionally friendly and gentle around Pokémon, wishing to befriend them and heal them without making the problem worse. He also tries to keep a cheery demeanor around others, especially patients, to keep them from growing upset, believing that happiness helps to prevent illness and promote recovery. Devyn is sometimes forgetful of minor things, however, and he will often berate himself later when he realizes that he has forgotten something, regardless of how trivial. Devyn is also not entirely immune to panic, often making hasty decisions when lives are at stakes and putting himself at risk in order to save others.

History:

From an early age, Devyn Vere had a strong love for Pokémon. Thanks to the Day Care that his parents owned, Devyn often interacted with the Pokémon that were dropped off by their trainers, befriending them and helping his parents to keep them active and healthy. Helping him to keep these Pokémon healthy was his older sister Rebecca, who chose to train in Pokemon medicine in order to better help these Pokémon recover from sickness. Devyn admired his older sister but was often jealous of her skill, so when the time came for him to choose a profession as well, he decided to follow in her footsteps and become a Pokémon Nurse. As it was uncommon for males to enter this profession, Devyn was teased by others in his community for his choice, but he endured it all quietly, eager to impress his sister and to be a better friend to Pokémon everywhere. His parents supported his decision, believing that Devyn had the patience and passion for Pokémon to care for them as he intended. On his 15th birthday, prior to going to medical school, his parents and sister surprised him by giving him an Absol, one that had newly hatched from an egg a Trainer had decided to let them keep. Overjoyed, Devyn immediately bonded with the Absol, whom he named Barry, and together, they went to nursing school. Over his four years of education, Devyn learned much about Pokémon care and made several friends among the other nurses-in-training, despite his gender. In this time, Barry was also trained to act as an assistant to Devyn, and following the awakening of Barry's ability to predict disasters, the two began to practice as field medics, able to rush to the scene of an incident just before it happens and minimize the inflicted injuries and response time for medical assistance. After his graduation, Devyn and several other graduates were hired to work in a newly opened Pokémon Center in a city where the injury and mortality rates have been mysteriously high. Wanting to help change this, Devyn accepted the assignment and, after visiting his family for a brief time, moved to the city to work in the new Center.

As part of his training, Devyn knows basic first aid for humans in addition to that for Pokémon.
Devyn has a habit of talking to Pokémon. Although he cannot understand what they are saying, he believes that communicating with them as if they were human helps to establish a better relationship between the nurse and the patient and allows for better cooperation and recovery.
Barry's ability to predict disasters is dependent on several factors: how many people will be affected, the scope of the injuries or destruction that would be created in this disaster, the distance the disaster's focal point is from where Barry is at the time, and how much time is left before the disaster occurs. As such, it's easier for Barry to predict an impending disaster when there are more victims, when the injuries or destruction is greater, when the focal point is closer, and when the disaster is minutes or hours away instead of days. Barry is also able to identify people of interest prior to the disaster - people who are either victims of the disaster or even those who might cause the disaster - due to how a cloud of disaster clings to them, but Barry must be within eyesight of a person of interest within a few hours of the disaster before he can identify someone as one. Because magi are by fate a disaster waiting to happen, Barry will always see a cloud of disaster hanging over them (although currently, he does not understand what it means).

Just around the corner was a newly opened Pokemon Center, staffed by recent graduates of a nearby medical school. Among the staff was the typical Nurse Joy or two, but running the front desk today is one of the few male doctors to graduate this year. Devyn Vere barely minded being the only male doctor in this center, however; if anything, it just proved how far he has come in fulfilling his dream. It has been a quiet day in the Pokemon Center today, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. However, it did mean that Devyn had to earn his pay by working with some of the filing. Sighing a bit, he quietly glances through the files on the desk in front of him, making sure everything is in order as he secretly hopes for a patient to come in and give him a small reprieve from the always dreadful paperwork.
